A generally solid visual novel. However, I've never seen a less heroic protagonist in a fantasy game. She's reluctant, wimpy, and falls in love with a dude after hanging out with him for 12 hours. The quality of the writing is good; I just can't empathize with the main character. The game is worth the $7 for the art alone though.. Solid made novel.Rich features like section selector and much more.. I wish I could, but I can't recommend the game for its current price (6.99). It is simply too short for that; the first playthrough took me about half an hour. Everything, especially relationships, happens way too fast to make any sense. There is simply not enough time to get attached to any of the characters. Speaking of which, I kinda expected Tyrna to be a fierce warrior (since the game is called "Sword Daughter" and all), but she just ends up getting saved by her elven companion most of the time. The story is a bit bland, but enjoyable overall. What I fancied about the game was the art; it is beautiful. Soundtrack is pleasant to listen to as well and your choices truly matter! All of the 22 endings differ from each other. Perhaps not always plotwise, but you get a new piece of dialogue. If you want to play this game, wait for a sale (like I did).. I read the negative reviews before I bought this game, but I wanted them to be wrong. It could be a good game, but definitely not for me. Yes, as other reviews say the game is pretty short. It's easy to finish a storyline in about half an hour. I wouldn't have minded, if the writing and the story was better. Minor spoilers ahead: Tyrna is a fake "girl power" protaginist whom the writer clearly did not understand. Her motivation varies, and she often contradicts her main character trait: a tough chick. It starts out fine, she is a tough chick who her father chose to train in sword and skills. However, after her father dies, she becomes starstruck with Gavin, a half elf. Nearly every ending revolves around them getting together. This story line wouldn't be so bad, if the wriitng wasn't extremly simple. Gavin frequently loses his temper with Tyrna, and even at times grabs her and shakes her. Tyrna, instead of being a boss ♥♥♥♥♥, she thinks that he really must care for her because he is so concerned. In at least one play through he physically picks her up and puts her on the horse because she is being stubborn. But looking in his eyes she knows he cares? Please, if your main character is supposed to be a tough chick, she wouldn't take that I'm-the-master-do-as-I-say-BS from anyone. Seems like the producers/designers thought a tough female character would sell, but didn't follow through on her actual character.. Pretty good Ren'Py game. I'd rate it a 70/100The goodGreat artworkMusic and effects are good and appropriateFun going through all the different choices and scenesTells a fairly good storyLots of quicksave slotsThe badSuffers a case of the cutes now and thenStock characters
